Pricing & FAQ

What it actually costs to move a mobile home

Nobody likes a website that won't talk numbers. Here's what really moves the price on a Texas mobile home move, with honest ranges — then a real quote takes about two minutes.

Short Answer

A local move inside the San Antonio metro typically runs:

Singlewide: $2,500–$5,000 Doublewide: $5,000–$9,000

That includes permits, transport, and basic setup & leveling for a straightforward local move. Longer distances, tight site access, or extra teardown work move the number up — see the table below for what does the moving.

These are general ranges, not a quote. Every move is priced against the actual home, route, and site — the only way to get a real number is to tell us the two addresses and the home's size using the form below.

What moves the price

FactorTypical RangeWhy It Matters
Distance beyond 25 miles~$150–$400 / mileFuel, escort vehicles, and crew hours scale with mileage once you're outside the immediate metro.
Home sizeSingle vs. double+A doublewide moves as two separate loads, each needing its own permit and often its own escort — roughly double the singlewide cost, not the same job twice.
Permits & escort$200–$900Oversize/overweight moving permits are required on every load; wide or long homes add pilot-car escort fees.
Teardown complexity$300–$1,500Skirting, decks, additions, and utility disconnects all add crew time before the home can legally travel.
Setup & leveling$800–$2,500Blocking, leveling, tie-downs, and reconnecting utilities at the new site so the home is livable, not just parked.
Site accessQuoted on-siteTight driveways, soft or sloped ground, and long carry distances from the road can add crew and equipment time.

Singlewide vs. doublewide — why it's not just "twice as much"

A singlewide travels as one load behind one truck. A doublewide (or triplewide) is two or three separate sections, each wide enough to need its own oversize permit and, on many routes, its own escort vehicle. That's why doublewide moves usually land closer to double the singlewide range rather than a flat multiplier — the permitting and escort costs don't scale down just because the sections came from the same home.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to move a mobile home in San Antonio?

For a local move inside the San Antonio metro, expect roughly $2,500–$5,000 for a singlewide and $5,000–$9,000 for a doublewide, including permits and basic setup. Distance beyond the immediate metro, home condition, and site access all push that number up or down — the quote form below gives you an exact figure.

How much does it cost to move a mobile home per mile?

Once you're past roughly the first 25 miles, figure somewhere around $150–$400 per loaded mile, depending on home width, route difficulty, and whether escort vehicles are required. Short local moves are usually priced as a flat job rather than per mile.

Is it cheaper to move a singlewide or a doublewide?

Singlewides are cheaper to move — they travel as one load with one permit. Doublewides and triplewides move as multiple sections, each needing its own permit and often its own escort, which is why the cost is closer to double (or triple) the singlewide range rather than a small step up.

What permits are required to move a mobile home in Texas?

Every move requires a Texas oversize/overweight moving permit for the route. Depending on the home's width and the counties or cities along the way, additional local permits or pilot-car escorts may be required. We handle all permitting as part of every job, so you don't have to file anything yourself.

Does the price include setup and leveling at the new site?

Yes — our standard move includes blocking, leveling, tie-downs, and reconnecting the home at its new site so it's ready to live in, not just delivered and left on blocks. If you only need setup on a home that's already on-site, we quote that separately as a standalone service.

How far in advance should I book a move?

Local San Antonio-area moves can often be scheduled within a couple of weeks. Longer statewide routes, or moves that need multi-county permitting, go smoother with three to four weeks' notice. Call or submit the quote form as soon as you have a target date.

Can you move a home I didn't buy from Texas New Mobile Homes?

Yes. Most of our transport jobs are for customers who bought elsewhere. Our moving and setup crew is a standalone service open to any Texas mobile or manufactured home owner.

How do I get an exact quote?

Fill out the form below with the home's current address, its destination, and its size (singlewide, doublewide, or triplewide). A real person from our San Antonio office reviews it and gets back to you, usually the same business day.
